Colombia defeats Bolivia 3-2 in World Cup qualifiers

Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

An injury-time goal from Edwin Cardona saw Colombia snatch a 3-2 away win over Bolivia on Thursday in the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Star-studded Colombia looked to have squandered an comfortable victory after Bolivia fought back from 2-0 down to level at 2-2 heading into stoppage time.

But just when the Bolivians were preparing to celebrate a well-earned point, midfielder Cardona stunned the home fans with a fine low shot.

The victory was only Colombia's second in five matches so far in South America's marathon qualifying competition for places at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

Bolivia will travel to Argentina on March 30 for their sixth match in the qualifiers while Colombia will receive Ecuador in Barranquilla. Endi
