French national arrested in Paris suburbs anti-terror operation: minister

Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

A French man was arrested Thursday in Argenteuil, northwest Paris suburbs, during an anti-terror operation, French Interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced Thursday night.

The man, suspected of planning an attack in France, was arrested Thursday morning, while the operation was still ongoing in Argenteuil, Cazeneuve said during a press conference from his office.

According to him, the man, arrested by the police officers of the Directorate of Internal Security, was "involved in a terrorist network" who was about to launch an attack in French territory.

Cazeneuve said the operation allowed French security forces to thwart a planned attack which was at an advanced stage.

"No tangible evidence links this project to the attacks of Paris and Brussels," he concluded. Endit
