Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

A group of militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) attacked a gendarme station in southeastern Turkey on Thursday, wounding some people, private Dogan news agency reported.

The PKK militants attacked Mermer Gendarme Station with car bombs near the Diyarbakir-Bingol Highway at about 21:00 local time (GMT 1800), according to the report.

Explosions took place in the scene and many ambulances and reinforcements were dispatched to the area, said the report.

At the same day, three soldiers of the Turkish security forces and two Turkish policemen were killed in the clashes during the military operations in the provinces of Mardin and Sirnak of southeastern Turkey.

Turkish General Staff stated on Thursday that Turkish security forces killed 10 PKK militants in Mardin and Sirnak provinces on Wednesday.

Since a ceasefire between the government and the PKK collapsed last July, Turkish security forces have been conducting a major campaign against the group in the southeast of the country.

More than 280 members of Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have been killed inside Turkey and in northern Iraq. Endit
