China to reimburse more disability rehab programs

Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Disabled people will be able to receive medical bill refunds on 20 more programs, China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) announced Thursday.

The programs, for people with physical, mental, verbal and hearing disabilities, should be covered by the basic medical insurance reimbursement program by June 30, according to a document jointly issued by social security, health, civil affairs, finance authorities and the CDPF.

The new additions include disability evaluation and therapy, such as wheel chair training, diagnosis of childhood autism, hearing test for children, language skill training for hearing-impaired children, swallowing dysfunction test for the elderly and physical training for disabled or bed-bound elderly.

Since 2010, nine such programs have been covered by the insurance reimbursement program. Endi
