The following are highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Manufacturers in Zambia have been urged to add value to their products in order to export finished products.

Roseta Mwape, the association's president said manufacturers should produce more valuable products to export into the African region and fill the gap created by China. (Times of Zambia)

--The Zambia Development Agency, the country's investment agency, has said it intends to attract major investors from various parts of the world when it hosts the International Investment Forum next month.

The investment forum, to be held from April 21 to 22 in Lusaka, the country's capital, is expected to attract over 400 delegates comprising foreign and local investors, financiers and captains of industry. (Daily Nation)

-- A survey has revealed that the eastern part of Zambia has become the major area in the country with high poverty levels.

The survey conducted by the Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute, a local agriculture think-tank, has revealed that Eastern Province has overtaken Western Province in poverty levels, now reaching a record high of 84.3 percent against 83.3 percent for Western Province.

The survey further said Zambia has made little progress in reducing poverty, particularly in rural areas despite the increasing economic growth that the country has experienced in the past decade. (The Post of Zambia)

-- The Law Association of Zambia, an association representing lawyers' interests, has questioned the government's decision to restore the immunity of former President Rupiah Banda.

George Chisanga, the association's president said the consent order agreed and signed by Banda's lawyers and the government is shrouded in mystery.

He said there was no provision under the country's amended constitution which gives leave to the court to sign a consent order to restore the immunity of a former president. (The Post of Zambia)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has launched construction works for a youth and sports development center which will be providing youths with life-saving skills and other recreational facilities.

Lungu said the center will help the country nurture hard working and responsible youths who will contribute to the development of the country. (Zambia Daily Mail) Endit
