6 sentenced to jail for running prostitution ring in Macao

Six people were sentenced to jail for running a prostitution ring in Macao, the special administrative region's primary court ruled on Thursday.

Hotel Lisboa's executive director Alan Ho was sentenced to one year and one month in jail. The judge said the executive director is responsible as the hotel's top management.

Another five, including a senior manager, a manager, and a security manager of the hotel, were sentenced to jail term ranging from five months to two years and five months.

Macao police arrested six suspected prostitution ring members from Macao, Hong kong and the mainland, and 96 alleged prostitutes during a crackdown operation on Jan. 10, 2015.

Investigation revealed that at least 2,400 women from the ring have rented the hotel rooms since 2014, making profit of over 400 million patacas (about 50 million U. S. dollars). Endit
