12 Taliban militants give up fighting in N. Afghanistan

Xinhua, March 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

A dozen Taliban militants gave up fighting and laid down arms in the northern Saripul province on Thursday, Public Relation Office of 209 Shaheen Corps in the northern region of Afghanistan said in a statement released here.

"Twelve armed fighters under Mullah Ahmad Shah Ansari gave up fighting and handed over their weapons to police on Thursday," the statement asserted.

Rejoining the former militants to their communities, would further stabilized security in the province, the statement said without giving more details.
