2 flights grounded at Indian airport after bomb scare

Xinhua, March 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Authorities Thursday grounded two flights at New Delhi airport following a bomb scare, local media reports said.

The flights belonging to Nepal Airlines and Air India were grounded ahead of their take-off at the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi, the Indian capital city.

"An Air India flight to Bhubaneswar with about 180 passengers and crew members on board was stopped well before take-off at 11:00 a.m. following a bomb scare. After that passengers from a Nepal Airlines flight to Kathmandu scheduled to take off at 11:30 a.m. with more than 160 people were deplaned following similar reports."

Reports said both the flights were subjected to thorough checking by security personnel and police. However nothing suspicious was found. The checking was going on until last reports poured in.

On Wednesday an Air India flight from New Delhi was made to park at an isolated place at Bangkok's main international airport following a false bomb threat. The passengers were evacuated from the airport's emergency slide. Endit
