The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Thursday.

-- ANC MP Jackson Mthembu expressed outrage on Twitter at the Indian Gupta family after deputy minister of finance Mcebisi Jonas's explosive announcement that the family offered him the position of finance minister.

Jonas on Wednesday confirmed he was offered the job of finance minister before Nhlanhla Nene was removed. (Mail & Guardian)

--Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas was threatened on Wednesday by a prominent businessman as he prepared to blow the lid on the Gupta family's role in selecting a previous finance minister.

Mr. Jonas confirmed on Wednesday that he was approached by the family and offered the position before the axing of the then minister Nhlanhla Nene in December last year. (Business Day)
