Malaga coach Gracia agrees next contract with the club

Xinhua, March 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

Spanish BBVA Primera Liga club Malaga confirmed on Tuesday they have reached agreement with coach Javi Gracia to extend his contract with the club until the end of June 2019.

The new deal is a reward for the work the former Osasuna boss has carried out in his almost two seasons at the club. He led the team to 23 wins and 17 draws of his 67 games in charge.

Last season saw Malaga flirt with a top-six finish in the BBVA Primersa Liga before a poor run at the end of the season saw them eventually finish ninth.

This term Malaga are currently ninth in the table with 36 points, which is very credible given that the club sold key players such as Samu Garcia, Sami Castellejo, Juanmi and Sergi Darder over the summer.

The loss of first team regulars was one factor in Malaga's dreadful start to the season and they failed to win until the 7th game of the campaign, scoring just five goals in their first 12 matches.

Gracia has since turned results around and the team is in with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe next season. Endit
