2nd LD: First group of Russian aircraft arrive in Russia from Syria

Xinhua, March 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

The first group of Russian aircraft leaving Syria has arrived in the Voronezh base in southern Russia, the Rossiya 24 TV channel said Tuesday.

A crowd of people welcomed the pilots with flags and flowers at the base, the TV footage showed.

The group is composed of a Tu-154 transport plane and several multifunction Su-34 bombers, the Russian Defense Ministry said earlier Tuesday.

The move came after Moscow announced it would withdraw from Tuesday the bulk of its forces from the war-torn Middle East country. Endi
