Century-old classic cars dazzle Sudanese at Khartoum expo

Xinhua, March 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Sudan has organized its first classic car exhibition in capital Khartoum, where some of the displayed cars were manufactured more than a hundred years ago.

The three-day exhibition, started on Saturday, was organized at archaeological area of Al-Tabia in Omdurman city with over 20 classic cars displayed.

The organizers were keen that the displayed cars were made before 1970, including Arrol Johnston Cart, especially manufactured for Sudan's British Governor Gen. Sir Francis Wingate Pasha in 1905, and the U.S. Imperial car, owned by King Faisal bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, of which only 122 were manufactured worldwide.

The show also included a French Peugeot 1958-1965 and the U.S. Ford 1915.

Owners of some of the displayed cars said their participation in the show tended to inform the new generation with part of Sudan's history and the pattern of life years ago. Endit
