Two members of Bangladesh radical group killed in clash with villagers

Two suspected members of a radical group Hiz-but-Tawhid were killed Monday in a clash with villagers over construction of a mosque in Bangladesh's Noakhali district, some 158 km southeast of capital Dhaka.

Khandaker Ilias Sharif, the district's police chief, told journalists on Monday night that some 25 people including policemen and villagers were also injured in the clash that erupted after locals protested the construction of the mosque by the members of the radical group.

"We suspect that the deceased are members of Hizb-ut- Tawhid," Sharif said.

Security was reportedly tightened in the area to thwart any untoward incident. Endit
