Singapore stocks close 1.14 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 31.66 points, or 1.14 percent, to close at 2,810.43.

A total of 2.02 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.20 billion Singapore dollars (864 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 243 to 147, while 531 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 44.74 points, or 1.58 percent, to close at 2,778.77 on Tuesday. Endit
