Vice Foreign Minister to attend Asia Cooperation Dialogue

Xinhua, March 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin will attend the 14th foreign ministers' meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday.

ACD, founded in June 2002 with 33 member states, is the only official dialog and cooperation mechanism in Asia, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told a routine press briefing on Monday.

During the meeting, China will discuss how the ACD mechanism can be improved, areas of cooperation and future plans.

China thanked Thailand for organizing the meeting, and said it would coordinate with all sides to ensure its success, Hong added.

"It has played a positive role in boosting mutual understanding, cooperation and friendship among Asian countries during its 14-year development," Hong said.

He added that China held the ACD cooperation process in high regard and would continue to actively participate.

As the leading country in ACD agricultural and energy cooperation, China hosted a range of events related to ACD development and the construction of the Belt and Road initiative, to promote Asia's regional cooperation and integration, according to the spokesperson. Endi
