Israeli forces wound Palestinian in Gaza, arrest 19 in West Bank, East Jerusalem

Palestinian medical sources said Monday that a Palestinian man was wounded in central Gaza by Israeli gunfire.

Sources told Xinhua that the man, in his twenties, was moderately injured after being shot in the foot in a refugee camp in central Gaza. He was rushed to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, Israeli public radio said an Israeli serviceman was shot at near Gaza Strip and returned fire; it reported no casualties.

Israel keeps a security buffer zone along the borders with the Gaza Strip.

Also on Monday, Israeli security forces arrested 19 Palestinians in search raids into several Palestinian cities in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Palestinian Prisoner's Club (PPC) media officer, Amani Sarahnah, told Xinhua that the arrests took place in Jenin, Ramallah, Hebron, Qalqilia and East Jerusalem suburbs. Endit
