Xinhua, March 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Spanish Ibex-35 stock exchange ended the month of February on a positive note as Monday's trading saw a 1.34 percent rise in share prices allowing it to close the day on 8,461.40 points.

Monday continued the positive trend seen on Thursday and Friday last week with the three days' trading helping the Ibex-35 recover 5.6 percent of its value.

Nevertheless February closed with losses of 4 percent over the month, while share values in Spain have fallen by 11.35 percent since the start of the year, due partly to the ongoing political uncertainty in the country.

The week began with the Ibex-35 standing on 8,349.20 points and it closed on 8,461.40 picking up during the day after a slow start to trading.

Among the day's best performing companies were the construction firm Sacyr, which saw its shares leap 12.47 percent in value after good results published on Friday.

ArcelotMittal saw shares increase by 7.85 percent, while shares in media company Mediaset increased by 5.43 percent, while supermarket chain Dia was the only company to see losses with a small fall of 0.09 percent in the value of its shares.

Meanwhile the Spanish risk premium fell to 141.9 points on the eve of the Investiture debate in the Spanish Congress, while the interest on the 10-year-bond closed a 1.52 percent. Endit
