Afghan battle claims 8 lives of militants in northern district

Xinhua, February 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Up to eight Taliban fighters have been killed and eight others injured over the past 24 hours in Dand-e-Ghori district of the northern Baghlan province, provincial police chief Awaz Mohammad Naziri said Friday.

"The security forces have killed eight armed Taliban and injured eight others in Dand-e-Ghori district over the past 24 hours," Naziri told reporters here.

The official, however, avoided commenting on the possible casualties of security forces.

Dand-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabudin districts in the outskirt of Baghlan's provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri have been regarded as Taliban hotbed in the relatively peaceful Baghlan province.

Taliban militants who have been resisting government forces in Dand-e-Ghori and Dan-e-Shabudin districts over the past month haven't commented. Endit
