Singapore stocks close 1.77 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 45.98 points, or 1.77 percent, to close at 2,649.38.

A total of 1.19 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.08 billion Singapore dollars (771.4 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 248 to 121, while 558 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 16.56 points, or 0.63 percent, to close at 2,603.40 on Thursday. Enditem
