Family of Chinese MH370 victim sue Malaysia Airlines

Two family members of a Chinese passenger who went missing on flight MH370 have launched civil action against Malaysia Airlines.
The case has been registered at the Beijing Rail Transportation Court, which is designated to handle civil actions by MH370 victims' families, according to a statement issued by the Beijing Higher People's Court Friday.
The flight disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing carrying 239 people, most of them Chinese. Although the plane has not been found, the Malaysian government officially classified the flight as assumed lost with no survivors in January 2015.
The claimants, family members of a passenger surnamed Wang, are demanding 4.7 million yuan (about 723,000 U.S. dollars) in damages, the Beijing Higher People's Court said.
The two-year deadline set by the Montreal Convention to file claims ends on March 8.
Malaysia Airlines has promised "fair and equitable compensation" to the families. Endi
