JAKARTA -- An Explosion in the construction of a power plant in North Sumatra, Indonesia killed 7 workers and seriously wounded 6 others, a senior official from the disaster management agency said on Thursday.

KABUL -- Some 50 militants and three soldiers had been killed during military operations across Afghanistan within one day, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"About 50 militants, including 46 Islamic State (IS) militants, have been killed, 26 wounded and one militant was detained as Afghan army, police and intelligence agency personnel launched several cleanup and military operations throughout Afghanistan over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement. ABUJA -- At least four dead bodies have so far been recovered as rescue operation commenced at the site of a huge explosion which rocked a divisional police headquarters in Jimeta town of Nigeria's northeastern state of Adamawa on Thursday, local rescue workers said.
