Spain's vehicles production rises by 1 pct in January

The number of vehicles manufactured in Spain rose by 1 percent in January when compared with the same month of a year earlier to a total of 218,411 unities, local media reported on Thursday.

Spain's factories have been manufacturing around 12,000 vehicles a day, the organizations of the sector said, and they expect to manufacture 2.8 million vehicles this year, a figure that the sector did not reach since 2007, just before the financial crisis started undermining the country's vehicle production.

The Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC) specified that a total of 174,705 cars were produced in January this year which meant a 0.13 percent increase when compared with the same month of a year earlier.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,267 four-wheel cars were produced and a total of 41,439 commercial and industrial vehicles were manufactured in January, which meant a 14.37 percent increase and a 4.42 percent rise respectively in comparison with January, 2015.

Exports increased by 1.57 percent to a total of 177,784 vehicles exported , representing 81.4 percent of the total production, ANFAC said. Endit
