Spanish treasury places 4.171 bln euros on market

Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills with a value of 4.171 billion euros ( 4.589 billion U.S. dollars) on market at negative interest rates and registering a demand of 8.653 billion euros.

A total of 3.615 billion euros worth of nine-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of minus 0.017 percent compared to the minus 0.085 percent of the previous issue held on January 26.

The placement also included 556 million euros worth of three-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of minus 0.214 percent, compared with the minus 0.268 percent of the previous issue.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed 26.9 billion euros on the market, which represented 21.5 percent of Spain's financial goals for the year. Enditem
