China on Monday urged the United States not to send the wrong message to the "Taiwan independence" forces.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks when responding to a question on whether Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will demand the U.S. side to reaffirm its opposition to "Taiwan independence" during his upcoming U.S. visit.
At the invitation of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Wang will pay an official visit to the U.S. from Tuesday to Thursday.
Hua called the Taiwan issue "the most important and most sensitive issue in China-U.S. relations."
She urged the U.S. side to uphold the one-China policy, abide by the three China-U.S. joint communiques and oppose "Taiwan independence."
The U.S. should support the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations by concrete actions, she said. Endi
