Beijing police arrest dog-nappers

Xinhua, February 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Beijing Police have arrested four people for stealing over 100 dogs which were later sold to slaughter houses.

The local public security bureau said Monday the gang had targeted villages in Beijing and neighboring Hebei Province since December. They broke into residences, kidnapping the dogs and stealing any valuables.

The gang only kidnapped large, heavy dogs, such as Tibetan mastiffs and golden retrievers, and sold them for 16 yuan (2.4 U.S. dollars) a kilogram. They confessed to making 40,000 yuan from selling the dogs.

Police arrested the four along with two dog buyers earlier this month. Endi
