Fresh graduates join Afghan national police

Xinhua, February 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Some 600 Afghan police officers have graduated from police training centers and had been commissioned to national police, the country's Interior Ministry said on Monday.

"A total of 600 police officers have recently graduated after conclusion of six-month training at Afghan National Police (ANP) training centers in eastern Wardak and neighboring Nangarhar province. They would be commissioned to the ANP to serve the nation," the ministry said in a statement.

Since Jan. 1 last year, Afghan security forces have assumed the full security charges from NATO and U.S. forces after the foreign troops switched from combat to support role, which focuses on training, advising and assisting Afghan forces.

Nearly 13,000 foreign forces are now stationed in the country and being involved in the mission. Enditem
