Bulgarian unemployment hits record low in Q4 2015

The Bulgarian unemployment rate fell to 7.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2015, reaching the lowest level since the end of 2009, the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Monday.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, there were 261,000 people registered as unemployed in Bulgaria, and the unemployment rate decreased by 2.7 percent year-on-year, NSI said.

The unemployment rate went down for both men and women and stood at 8 percent for men and 7.6 percent for women. Of the total number of unemployed persons, 54.5 percent were men and 45.5 percent were women.

Among all unemployed persons, 13.9 percent had higher education, 52 percent had upper secondary education and 34.1 percent had lower secondary education or less. Endit
