Copenhagen Stock Exchange C-20 index posts record one-day gain

Xinhua, February 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

The index of 20 most traded company shares on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange jumped 4 percent to post the largest one-day gain in its history on Wednesday.

The so-called C-20 index closed at 918.82 points at the end of regular trading, up from 883.57 points at the start of the day.

Among the big winners were Danish transport company DSV and Jyske Bank whose shares have increased by 9.32 percent and 6.5 percent respectively.

The increase came after the index had its largest single-day decline ever on Monday, when it lost 5.4 percent.

Analysts in Copenhagen said the rise should not be linked up with something specific as the market was rebounding following the last days of sharp falls.

The previous single-day gain record was set on Oct. 17, 2014, with the index rising 3.78 percent.

While the entire C-20 grew by 4 percent Wednesday, Danish oil and shipping group A.P. Moeller-Maersk's shares went down some 3.5 percent by the close of day's trading following the announcement of its annual results. Endit
