12 men jailed for abusing young girl

Xinhua, February 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Twelve men were given sentences of up to 20 years by a court in West Yorkshire for sexually abusing a teenage girl, local police confirmed on Monday.

West Yorkshire Police said the men from the Keighley and Bradford area were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court for the offences which occurred in Keighley, north England.

Eleven of those abusers were jailed for rape, while another man was jailed for sexual activity with a child under 16. It said the victim is a British girl, aged around 13 when she was repeatedly raped and sexually abused by the offenders over a period of 13 months between 2011 and 2012.

All offenders were aged between 19 and 63. They received jail sentences from three-and-a-half years and 20 years.

Yasser Kabir, 25, received a total of 20 years for three counts of rape against the young girl and for offences committed against another two young girls between 2004 and 2008.

"We are pleased that these men have now been sentenced for their terrible crimes against vulnerable young girls. Child sexual exploitation remains a priority for West Yorkshire Police. It is totally unacceptable and it is the responsibility of all agencies, communities and individuals to identify those responsible and help bring them to justice," said Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Bryar.
