Azerbaijan starts exporting electricity to Turkey

Xinhua, February 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Azerbaijan started supplying electricity to Turkey on Sunday via the territory of Georgia, the Caucasian country's energy ministry said on Monday.

The ministry said in a statement that Azerbaijan began transmitting up to 80 megawatts of electricity via a 500-kW transmission line of the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Energy Bridge.

The project is designed to provide Turkey the supply of 1200 megawatts of electricity, with Azerbaijan, whose power generation relies heavily on gas, accounting for half of it. Endi
