Czech police to use heartbeat detector in search for illegal migrants

Xinhua, February 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Czech foreign police will use heartbeat detector to check the lorries driving from Austria to the Czech Republic at the Mikulov and Hate border in their search for illegal migrants hidden inside, said Czech South Moravia police chief Leos Trzil on Friday.

With the help of sniffer dogs and an x-ray of the customs authority, Czech police have been making random checks of the lorries at present. Trzil said the heartbeat detector is mobile and can be easily transported. It is a novelty in the logistics of the Czech police.

The South Moravia Region that neighbors Slovakia and Austria is where the most migrants cross the Czech border. The Czech police detained 2,060 illegal migrants in the region in 2015. Trzil said most of the migrants are young people in their 20s from the Middle East. Enditem
