Dortmund have extended the contract with veteran goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, the Bundesliga runner-up confirmed in a statement on Friday.
The "BVB" extended Weidenfeller's expiring contract until June 2017.
"Roman was and is an important part of our team. We are very pleased that we continue our cooperation," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official homepage.
The 35-year-old custodian plays since 2002 for Dortmund and lifted three titles ever since. He is the oldest player within the squad and has the second most Bundesliga appearances (395) in the club's history.
"The attachment to the club owing to my long-term commitment was decisive for my contract extension. I fell home after 14 years in Dortmund," Weidenfeller said.
Dortmund's current back-up goalkeeper joined the "BVB" in 2002 from Kaiserslautern to clinch the Bundesliga title in 2011 and the German domestic double in 2012. He won besides that the FIFA World Cup with Germany in 2014.
Dortmund, who sit on the second place of the standings, face third-placed Hertha Berlin in the 20th round of Bundesliga on Feb. 6. Endit
