India says to stand by Pakistan if it acts on terror

Xinhua, February 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

India has said that it will stand by Pakistan if the neighboring nation takes action against terrorists operating from there.

"The government of India will stand by Pakistan if it takes decisive action against terrorists and their organizations. It will not only improve bilateral relations, but also bring peace and stability in the South Asian region," Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.

The Home Minister made the statement while addressing a counter-terrorism conference in the western state of Rajasthan's capital Jaipur Wednesday.

"Most of the terror attacks in India emanate from Pakistan and it (Islamabad) will have to show some sincerity and take concrete steps to rein in the various terror groups operating against India from its soil," he said.

India insists that the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and the attack on Pathankot air base this year emanated from Pakistan and says Islamabad is yet to bring the perpetrators of the twin attacks to book. Endit
