Two die from H1N1 flu in N.W. China

Xinhua, February 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

A husband and wife in northwest China's Gansu Province have died from H1N1 flu, local health authorities said Tuesday.

The couple from Dongtai, in the city of Baiyin, died on Friday and Sunday, Gansu Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission said in a statement.

Lab tests confirmed that the two had contracted H1N1 flu, it said.

The husband had a history of illness including pneumonia, spinal tuberculosis and kidney stones, while the wife suffered from heart disease, the commission said.

A total of 112 people, including 93 medical staff and 19 relatives, have been put under medical observation in Baiyin. Only three have shown any flu-like symptoms, two of which have been treated and the other is still showing slight symptoms.

The commission ordered Baiyin health authority to improve its monitoring system. Endi
