Singapore stocks close 0.89 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 23.18 points, or 0.89 percent, to close at 2,579.23.

A total of 668.7 million shares changed hands with turnover of 993.1 million Singapore dollars ( 699.4 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 210 to 167, while 546 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 26.70 points, or 1.02 percent, to close at 2,602.41 on Monday. Endit
