Ukraine unveils home-made unmanned aerial complexes

The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on Tuesday unveiled unmanned aerial complexes that were developed and produced in Ukraine.

"The BpAK-MP-1 systems have unique flight characteristics and they have successfully passed operational tests," said Oleksandr Turchynov, head of the NSDC, while presenting the drone complexes to public.

The first batch of the new air systems, which use surveillance drones with a flying altitude of 2 km and a monitoring capability of 50 km radius, will be soon delivered to the country's armed forces, Turchynov said.

In the nearest future, Ukraine is also planning to launch a mass production of combat drones, he added, without giving further details.

The BpAK-MP-1 remotely piloted air systems were developed by the experts of Kiev Polytechnic Institute and produced at a state-run Meridian plant located in the Ukrainian capital.

Details regarding the price of the drone complexes were undisclosed by the government, but local experts estimate their value at 40,000 U.S. dollars each. Endit
