Indonesia condemns suicide bombings in Cameroon

Xinhua, January 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Indonesian government condemned the suicide bomb attacks in Cameroon's Far North Region on Monday that killed at least 35 and injured 60 others.

"Indonesian people and government extend their sympathy and deepest condolence for Cameroonian people and government, particularly for families of the victims," a statement released by the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry said on Tuesday.

Citing accredited information from the Indonesian embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, no Indonesian national has been affected by the bombings so far.

Five women who pretended to be vegetable vendors detonated the bombs hidden in their vegetable baskets at around 11:30 a.m. (10:30 GMT) on Monday in Bodo, a town in Far North Region of Cameroon.

The attacks are suspected to be carried out by Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram who has started to attack Cameroon since 2013, leaving over 1,000 people killed. Endit
