Fiji's former military chief commissioned as ambassador to Ethiopia

Fiji's former military chief Brig. Gen. Mosese Tikoitoga was commissioned Tuesday as the Pacific island country's ambassador to Ethiopia.

Tikoitoga, who served as commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces from March 5, 2014 to Aug. 1, 2015, took the oath of allegiance and oath of execution of office at the State House before President Jioji Konousi Konrote.

Fiji's mission in Ethiopia is a new one on the African continent and replaces the one in Pretoria in South Africa, which has already closed, according to Fiji's Department of Information.

Tikoitoga resigned as the military commander last year to pursue a diplomatic career.

Two senior mission staff left Monday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to begin preparations for Tikoitoga's arrival in the next few days. Endit
