Iceland's unemployment stands at 1.9 pct in Dec. 2015

Iceland's unemployment rate stood at 1.9 percent in December 2015, registering a year-on-year decrease of 2.4 percentage points, according to a survey issued Tuesday by Statistics Iceland.

The survey showed the number of people in the labor force market in December 2015 was 188,500, among whom 3,600 were unemployed. The unemployment rate has not been lower since November 2007 when it was 1.3 percent.

Seasonally-adjusted data showed that a total of 190,400 people are in the labor market, and the unemployment rate was 2.3 percent in December 2015, which is 2.0 percentage points lower than it was in November 2015.

Seasonal adjustment is a statistical method for removing the seasonal component of a time series that is used when analyzing non-seasonal trends. Endit
