Belarusian economy shrank 3.9 pct in 2015

The Belarusian economy fell 3.9 percent in 2015 from the previous year, National Statistics Committee said on Monday.

In 2015, industrial output was down by 6.6 percent from a year earlier. Stocks of unsold products at the end of the year accounted for 68.7 percent of the average monthly industrial production.

Capital investments dropped 15.2 percent from 2014. A total of 5 million square meters of housing was commissioned in 2015, down 8.4 percent from 2014.

Authorities projected a minimum growth of 0.3 percent in 2016. However, international financial institutions forecast a contraction of 0.5-1 percent in GDP given the struggling economy of Russia, the country's main trading partner. Endit
