Sandy cold storm strikes Palestinian territories, disturbs daily life

A more than 70 km per hour sandy cold storm struck on Monday the Palestinian territories and disturbed the daily life in come areas, according to the Palestinian Meteorological.

Eyewitnesses said that most of commercial stores close down in both Gaza and West Bank just in case the storm gets stronger, while traffic and walkers movement decreased amid official advices to the populations to stay indoor.

The Palestinian Meteorological said in an emailed press statement that children and those who suffer from chronic lung and throat sicknesses should stay home to avoid inhaling the dust that come with the storm.

The statement said it is expected that the weather would get colder within the coming two days, while it may rain during the nights, adding that western-southern winds arrived in the atmosphere of the Palestinian territories.

The Palestinian Defense Forces also called upon the residents to follow the instructions of avoiding the sandy cold storm, and try as much as they can to stay indoors, mainly children.

It also called vehicles drivers to drive slower and carefully because sight levels are down and called on residents to strengthen satellite dishes and other iron pieces in fear of flying due to the string winds. Endit
