After an extensive and demanding exercise cycle in 2015, the Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum in the Netherlands has entered the stand-by period for NATO Response Force 2016, NATO said on Monday.
JFC Brunssum, which was trained and certified last autumn during exercise Trident Juncture 15, is now well prepared to respond to any NATO response force tasking, said NATO.
Recognizing the important role the JFC Brunssum will play, General Philip Breedlove, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, said, "Trident Juncture 2015, led by JFC Brunssum, demonstrated that we can deploy high-readiness forces from across the Alliance in a matter of days."
"These multinational forces from air, land, sea and special operations are highly interoperable and have proven capable of conducting complex military manoeuvres across the spectrum of operations," said Breedlove.
General Hans-Lothar Domrose, Commander of JFC Brunssum said, "Leadership elements that guide essential 'boots on the ground' have proven their readiness and I'm confident we can cope with any given challenge as necessary."
The NATO Response Force is a highly ready and technologically advanced multinational force made up of land, air, maritime and special operations forces components. Endit
