Thailand on Thursday condemned the deadly terror attacks in Jakarta, Indonesia, which killed seven people and injured 20 others.

In a message to the Indonesian president, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said, "I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you and through you to the families of those who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident."

Thailand joins Indonesia and the international community in strongly condemning this heinous act, Prayut said.

The Thai government "stands ready to support, in any possible way, to Indonesia in this difficult time," the message stated.

The Thai authorities are closely monitoring developments and have reinforced the security at the Indonesian embassy in Bangkok, Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Bomb explosions and gun fires occurred on Thursday in downtown Jakarta, for which Indonesian police blamed terror group Islamic State (IS). Enditem
