Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo held a meeting with heads of Polish parliamentary clubs on Tuesday, regarding the recent controversies aroused between the country and the European Union (EU).
"We agreed that Polish issues should be solved in Poland," said Szydlo during a press conference after the meeting.
It was not a good thing that the country's internal affairs have been brought into the international level, and the government would do everything possible to calm the situation down and explain all the "untrue" information about Poland, said the prime minister.
The meeting, which brought together representatives of both ruling Law and Justice party and the other parliamentary clubs, was held in connection with recent controversies aroused around the new laws introduced by the new Polish government, especially as far as amendments to Constitutional Tribunal and the new media law, both already signed by President Andrzej Duda, are concerned.
The laws have brought criticism both within the country and abroad, including the EU and other political figures.
The European Commission wrote to Polish ministers expressing their concern over the law.
On Dec. 23, Frans Timmermans, the First Vice-President of the European Commission, sent a letter to Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro on the Constitutional Tribunal matter. Last week, another letter was sent regarding the new media law.
Poland's situation is to be discussed by the European Commission on Wednesday and by the European Parliament on Jan. 19. Endit
