A Sudanese official on Tuesday accused South Sudan of procrastination in ending the file of demarcation of the joint border, Sudan Tribune reported.
"South Sudan is still procrastinating and expressing its unwillingness about implementing the border demarcation process and determining the demilitarized buffer zone on the ground," Abdalla Al-Sadiq, head of the technical committee for border line between Sudan and its southern neighbor, was quoted as saying.
"They presented political allegations and we do not want to open way for allegations. Hadn't it been for their procrastination, the demarcation process would have been completed before the separation," he noted.
He expected the two sides to begin negotiations on border demarcation by end of current January.
He said the joint border extends for around 2400 km, pointing out that 80 percent of the process has already completed on papers.
In October 2015, the two sides held a round of talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, without reaching tangible progress on the border issue, one of the biggest barriers hampering the settlement of differences between the two countries. Endit
