Belgian prosecutors identify address used as possible hideout for Paris attacker: reports

Xinhua, January 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Belgian investigators say they have identified an apartment in Brussels which believed to have been used by Salah Abdeslam as a hideout after the Paris terror attacks, local media reported on Friday.

According to Belgian newspapers De Standaard and Het Nieuwsblad, the Belgian federal prosecutor confirmed that a home on the Rue Henri Berge in the Brussels district of Schaerbeek was used to make the explosive belts used in attacks on the French capital on November 13.

Three belts and traces of explosives were found at the property during a raid on December 9, the papers report.

Investigators believed the same apartment was used by Salah Abdeslam after the attacks took place, and his fingerprint was found at the scene. It is believed that the apartment was rented by one of the suspects currently being held by police on terrorism charges.

Abdeslam is the subject of an international arrest warrant and manhunt following the Paris attacks in which 130 people were killed. Enditem
