Audi reports record sales year in 2015

German automaker Audi AG reported on Friday that it had achieved a new sales record for 2015, delivering more than 1.8 million automobiles worldwide.

Compared with 2014, worldwide deliveries increased by 3.6 percent to around 1,803,250 automobiles, the Ingolstadt-based company announced.

In addition, around 158,450 vehicles were delivered worldwide in December, an increase of 5.6 percent year-on- year, the 72nd successive month of sales increases.

"With sales of 1.8 million, we have surpassed the target set in our Strategy 2015 of 1.5 million cars by 300,000," said Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management.

"2015 has proved that Audi is solidly on track and that we are able to master a year that presented various challenges very successfully," he continued.

The company claims in a statement on its official website that it is one of the most successful premium brand in Europe and China.

According to the statement, Audi once again achieved very high sales levels in 2015 in China, ending the year with 570,889 customers, slightly below the 2014 figure. A total of 60,197 units were delivered in December. Endit
