The Moroccan police said on Friday that they had dismantled a seven-member IS recruitment cell in the suburbs of Casablanca.
Police investigations have revealed that the cell members supported the IS terrorist group, and its leader had close ties with IS leaders in Syria and Iraq with the aim of recruiting and sending Moroccan fighters to its camps, according to the Interior Ministry.
The recruiters were also expected to acquire military expertise and return home to carry out terrorist operations in Morocco.
According to the Moroccan government, police have busted some 140 terrorist cells since 2002 and successfully foiled hundreds of terrorist plans. More than 2,200 individuals have been arrested. Endit
