China holds foreign diplomat reception

Xinhua, January 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese Foreign Ministry held a New Year reception for foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations on Wednesday evening.

State Councilor Yang Jiechi, senior diplomats and representatives of government departments attended the event at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in downtown Beijing.

Addressing the reception, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China will contribute more to world peace and development in the new year.

It will promote the Belt and Road regional trade and infrastructure network, working for mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries, said Wang.

Hosting the G20 summit in Hangzhou in September, China will strive to help resolve difficulties in the global economy, he said.

China also wants to help reach political settlements of hot-spot issues, take an active part in international counter-terrorism cooperation and contribute to regional development, according to the minister. Endi
