1st LD: PNA won't dissolve or collapse: Abbas

Xinhua, January 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday that his people won't let the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to collapse or get dissolved.

Abbas made the remarks in a speech after arriving at the West Bank city of Bethlehem to celebrate Orthodox Christmas and New Year.

"We are not going to give up on the existence of the PNA, which is our accomplished achievement," Abbas said, adding "they (Israelis) should stop dreaming of seeing it collapsing."

Over the past two weeks, the Israeli government, its ministerial cabinet and its officials have been debating and studying the consequences and the possibilities in case the PNA gets dissolved or collapsed.

"I recently heard a lot about the possibility of undermining the PNA," said Abbas, adding "They (Israelis) can send their troops to us, but they won't be able to get us out from here, we won't surrender and won't get despaired."

Meanwhile, Abbas said the Palestinians won't keep the situation going on like that, adding that "all that we want is to resolve all the outstanding issues." Endit
